How much does a first visit cost at Berala Dental?

A first visit is $250 for adults, and $150 for children under 10 who are not eligible for CDBS. Every figure assumes your health fund pays nothing; most funds with extras cover contribute, and HICAPS claims it on the spot.

Gum maintenance after a deep clean: $400 per visit, every three to four months
Fillings: from $350 for an adult tooth, from $250 for a baby tooth

Why a price can change after the examination. Published prices are starting points for the straightforward version of a treatment, because every mouth is different. Someone who books a $250 check-up can turn out to need gum treatment, which is a different treatment with a different fee. That is why the examination comes first and nothing beyond it is started without a written quote. CBCT and CT scans are not part of these fees and are quoted separately if they are ever needed. Is my child’s visit bulk-billed under Medicare CDBS?

Children aged 0 to 17 can be eligible when the family receives Family Tax Benefit Part A or certain other government payments at some point in the year. Bring the child’s Medicare card to the visit.

If your child is not eligible, the visit is $150 under 10 and $250 from 10.

Health funds

Does Berala Dental accept my health fund?

Berala Dental accepts all Australian health funds and claims on the spot through HICAPS, so you pay only the difference on the day. It is a Bupa Members First Platinum provider and a nib First Choice provider.

What your fund pays depends on your policy and the extras limits you have left this year, so check your cover with your fund. A quote can also be run against your policy before any treatment.

Gum health

Bleeding, swollen or receding gums: what does the gum check involve?

Every check-up includes a gum screening. The clinician measures the small gap between each tooth and the gum with a fine probe and notes any bleeding, which shows whether a regular clean is enough.

Bleeding when brushing

An early sign of gum inflammation, and often reversible at this stage with a clean and better home care.

Swollen or tender gums

Checked at the gum screening, alongside the X-rays that show the bone around the teeth.

Receding gums

Measured and recorded, so changes can be tracked from one visit to the next.

Overdue for a clean

The first visit simply finds out where things stand. No lecture.

If the screening shows gum disease, a regular clean will not reach the tartar on the roots. A deep clean does, and at Berala Dental the initial phase is $1,600 with X-rays and gum charting included.
