👋 New patients

Welcome to Berala Dental.

Looking for a new dentist in Auburn, Berala, or anywhere across Sydney's Inner West? We've been doing this since 2002 — and we'd love to meet you.

New patients welcome from Berala, Auburn, Lidcombe, Regents Park, Granville, Parramatta, Strathfield and beyond.

⭐ Everyone welcome

Whoever you are, whatever brought you here.

Maybe you're new to the area. Maybe you've been avoiding the dentist for a while. Maybe you've had bad experiences in the past. None of that matters here.

We've been treating Sydney families since 2002 — over 14,000 adults and 3,000 kids through our doors. What we've learned in 20+ years is simple: people just want to be treated like people.

No judgement. No lecturing. No pressure to commit to anything beyond what you came in for. Whatever brought you to this page — book in, and we'll handle the rest.

Welcome — we mean it.

💬 Step 2

Intake form by WhatsApp.

Once you've booked, we send your new-patient intake form straight to your phone via WhatsApp. No printing, no waiting room paperwork, no rushed clipboard at the front desk.

1

Book your appointment online or via WhatsApp.

2

We send the intake form to your WhatsApp — usually within an hour during business hours.

3

Complete it on your phone at your own pace and send it back. Takes around 5 minutes.

4

We review your details before you arrive — so we can hit the ground running on the day.

Don't use WhatsApp? No worries — paper forms are available at the clinic. Just arrive 10 minutes early.

🌍 All welcome

A clinic for everyone in Sydney.

Auburn and Berala are among Sydney's most diverse neighbourhoods. Our patients come from every culture, every background, every religion, every walk of life — and our clinic reflects that.

Our team speaks multiple languages and we make sure every patient feels comfortable, understood, and respected. If language or cultural needs are a concern, mention it when you book and we'll arrange staff who can help.

  • Multiple languages spoken by our team — ask when you book
  • Female dentists available on request — Dr Mahnaz sees many of our female patients
  • Family bookings welcome — bring siblings, parents, grandparents together
  • Cultural respect, always — no awkward assumptions, just dentistry

What to bring with you.

  • Photo ID for new patient registration
  • Your private health fund card if you have one (we claim on the spot via HICAPS)
  • Medicare card — especially important if your child uses CDBS
  • List of medications you currently take, including supplements
  • Recent X-rays or 3D scans from your previous dentist if you have them
  • Any treatment plans or quotes from another clinic if seeking a second opinion
  • Your questions written down — easy to forget once you're in the chair
🔄 Switching dentists?

Bringing your records is easier than you think.

Patients switch to us all the time. To make the transition smooth, request your dental records and recent X-rays from your current dentist by email — they're legally required to provide these on request.

Bringing your previous records saves time, money, and avoids unnecessary repeat X-rays. If you can't get them in time, no problem — we'll work with what we have and update as needed.

💳 Health funds

All major health funds accepted.

We accept all major Australian private health funds with extras dental cover and process claims on the spot via HICAPS. We can run a benefits quote with your fund before your appointment so you know your out-of-pocket cost upfront. Children's CDBS bulk-billed where eligible.

FAQ

Yes. Berala Dental welcomes new patients from across Sydney's Inner West. We've been in Berala since 2002 and accept patients of all ages, backgrounds, and dental histories — including those who haven't been to a dentist in years.
It depends on what you need. New patients at Berala Dental can choose between a check-up & clean (if you're due for routine care) or a consultation (if you have a specific concern, want a second opinion, or are weighing a complex treatment). When you book, we'll help you decide which fits best.
We send the new patient intake form to you via WhatsApp before your first appointment. You complete it on your phone at your own pace and send it back. This saves you time at the clinic and means we can review your details before you arrive.
Auburn and Berala are among Sydney's most diverse suburbs and our clinic reflects that. Our team speaks multiple languages and we welcome patients from every cultural background. If language is a concern, mention it when you book and we'll arrange for staff who speak your language to be available.
Helpful items include: photo ID for registration, your private health fund card if you have one, your Medicare card (especially for kids using CDBS), a list of any medications you take, recent X-rays or scans from your previous dentist if you have them, and a list of questions or concerns you want to address.

Absolutely. We see patients every week who haven't seen a dentist in 5, 10, or even 20 years. We don't judge, we don't lecture — we just help you move forward. Many patients tell us their first visit back was easier than they imagined. If anxiety has kept you away, ask about happy gas sedation when you book.

A new-patient check-up & clean typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. A new-patient consultation takes 15 to 20 minutes depending on whether X-rays or 3D scans are needed. We allow extra time for new patients so we don't rush — getting to know you matters more than ticking boxes.

Step by step

What to expect at your first visit.

Six stages, each one explained — so nothing on the day comes as a surprise.

1

See what we see

An intraoral camera (tiny wand) shows every tooth on the screen. You see them in HD. No guesswork, no mystery.

2

Professional opinion

We walk you through each tooth — what looks great, what to watch, what (if anything) needs attention. In plain English.

3

X-rays if needed

Digital, low-radiation bitewings to catch cavities hiding between teeth. New patients usually get them; returning patients every 18–24 months.

4

Thorough clean & polish

Scale, polish, stain removal. You leave feeling your teeth are properly clean — not just surface-scrubbed.

5

Fluoride treatment

Quick fluoride application protects enamel for months. Standard for kids, recommended for adults with sensitive teeth or decay risk.

6

Brushing demo

Personalised — most people miss the same 3 spots. We show you yours, on a mirror, with your own brush technique.

You leave with: a photo printout of your teeth, a written plan (if any work is needed), a written quote, and nothing you didn't agree to.

WhatsApp pre-fill

Switching dentists or new to Australia?

Two questions we get every week — answered.

We accept all major Australian private health funds with extras dental cover and process claims on the spot via HICAPS. We can run a benefits quote with your fund before your appointment so you know your out-of-pocket cost upfront.

Common questions

First-visit FAQ.

Tap any question to expand. Anything else? Call or WhatsApp us — we're happy to chat.

The consultation is $80 flat — that covers the exam, intraoral photos, a written plan, and any X-rays we decide you need. Anything beyond that (like the clean itself) is quoted in writing before we start, so there are never surprise charges. Most patients with extras cover have their out-of-pocket reduced via HICAPS. Eligible kids are bulk-billed under CDBS.
No. We've built 22+ years of trust on not doing this. If something genuinely needs fixing, we'll show you the photo, explain the options (including doing nothing), and give you a written quote to take home. Same-day pressure is not our style. Take a week, take a month — we'll still be here when you're ready.
Absolutely. We see patients every week who haven't seen a dentist in 5, 10, or even 20 years. We don't judge, we don't lecture — we just help you move forward. Many parents tell us their first visit back was easier than they imagined. If anxiety has kept you away, ask about happy gas sedation when you book.
Tell us — genuinely. We'll triage: what's urgent (infection, pain), what's medium-term (decay that's not hurting yet), and what's optional (cosmetic). Urgent things we'll find a way to do — stage the cost over 2–3 visits, Afterpay, Zip, or adjust the plan to the bare essentials. No-one should sit in pain because of money, ever.
Book a check-up if you've seen a dentist regularly, your last visit was within the last year or two, and you have no specific concerns. Book a consultation if you have a specific issue (pain, broken tooth, cosmetic concern), are weighing major treatment, want a second opinion, or it's been many years since your last visit. The team can help you choose if you're unsure — just call or WhatsApp.
Yes — and we love this. We can book back-to-back family appointments so you're in and out in one trip. Kids can come into your chair room with you (or vice versa), and most kids are bulk-billed under CDBS. Just tell us who you'd like to see when you book and we'll line it up.
Text or WhatsApp us — we'd rather know than not. If you're under 15 min late, we almost always still see you. Between 15 and 30 min, we'll usually shorten the appointment to what fits. Over 30 min we may need to rebook, but we'll never ghost you — we'll call and figure out the next slot that works.
Yes, absolutely. We have both on the team — just tell us your preference when booking and we'll match you. No explanation needed. Same for your hygienist. If you want the same clinician every visit (we recommend it for continuity), we'll note that on your file too.
A new-patient check-up & clean typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. A new-patient consultation takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on whether X-rays or 3D scans are needed. We allow extra time for new patients so we don't rush — getting to know you matters more than ticking boxes.

Common first-visit questions.

How much does the first visit cost?
The consultation is $80 flat — that covers the exam, intraoral photos, a written plan, and any x-rays we decide you need. Anything beyond that (like the clean itself) is quoted in writing before we start, so there are never surprise charges. Most patients with Extras cover pay close to nothing out of pocket via HICAPS. Urgent things we'll find a way to do — stage the cost over 2–3 visits, Afterpay, Zip, or adjust the plan to the bare essentials. No-one should sit in pain because of money, ever.
