The Platinum benefit

What Bupa says about Members First Platinum.

“Bupa’s Members First Platinum benefit gives eligible members 100% back on up to two annual six‑monthly dental check‑ups and cleans at participating Platinum providers.”

Source: bupa.com.au

What that means at Berala Dental: we are a participating Platinum provider, so those visits are claimable here on the spot through HICAPS.

The honest part: the benefit is capped at up to two check‑ups and cleans a year, and whether you personally get 100% back depends on your level of cover, your own remaining annual limits and any waiting periods. That is between you and Bupa, not something a dental practice can promise. Check your cover in the Bupa app or call Bupa before your appointment.

We quote the full fee in writing before treatment and never predict a rebate. If a fund pays some, most or all of it, that is a bonus on top of a number you already agreed to.

Verified provider

In both networks — Bupa Platinum and nib First Choice.

Berala Dental sits inside both major dental provider networks, so most Sydney families claim on the spot here whichever of the two they hold.

The network

What is a Bupa Members First Platinum provider?

Members First is Bupa’s network of dental practices that have an agreement with Bupa on what they charge for common items. Platinum is the top tier of that network.

It is an agreement, not a discount

A Members First practice agrees set fees with Bupa on common dental items. It is not a sale, a voucher or a promotion — it is the fee arrangement that sits behind your claim.

Platinum is the top tier

Bupa runs Members First at more than one level. Platinum is the highest, and it is the tier that carries the 100%-back benefit on up to two check-ups and cleans a year for eligible members.

You still keep your own limits

Being at a Platinum provider does not change your annual limits, your waiting periods or your level of cover. Those are set by your policy, and only Bupa can confirm them.

You are not locked in

Bupa members can see any dentist they like. The network only changes how the claim is calculated — it does not restrict where you go.

The visit itself

What is in a check-up and clean at Berala Dental?

The check-up and clean is the appointment the Platinum benefit is built around. Here it is one inclusive fee of $250 if no fund pays a cent — and this is everything inside it.

3 intraoral X‑raysIncluded in the fee, not billed on top.
OPG for new patientsThe panoramic X-ray, then every 2–5 years as needed.
Intraoral photosSo you see what the clinician sees.
PSR periodontal screeningThe gum screening — gum disease usually causes no pain.
The scale and cleanThe appointment itself, above the gumline.
Fluoride treatmentIncluded in the fee, not charged as an extra.

Elsewhere an OPG is commonly charged separately, often around $125, with individual X-rays around $49 each. At Berala Dental they sit inside the $250. Bupa’s benefit applies to the check-up and clean items as Bupa defines them — what your own policy covers is between you and Bupa, so check before you come in.
