An orthodontist is a dentist who has completed several further years of full-time training in straightening teeth and guiding jaw growth, and is the right person to plan braces or appliances for a growing child.

Berala Dental is a general dental practice with no specialist on site. Children who need orthodontic treatment are referred to an orthodontist, and children who need a specialist paediatric dentist are referred too.

Medicare CDBS

Is the children’s check-up bulk-billed under CDBS?

For children eligible for the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule, the check-up, including the bite check, is bulk-billed at Berala Dental: Medicare pays the clinic directly and there is no out-of-pocket cost, up to the $1,158 cap over two calendar years. Children are generally eligible when the family receives Family Tax Benefit Part A or certain other government payments.
